Meta lead ads vs landing pages: which one brings better leads?

Instant forms are cheap and fast. Landing pages take more effort and the leads cost more, but they show up. Here is how I decide, and the setup that gives you the best of both.

Every Meta ads account I audit has the same question sitting in it: should the ad send people to a Facebook instant form, or to a landing page on your own site? Both work. They just produce different leads.

What instant forms do well

An instant form opens inside Facebook or Instagram, pre-filled with the person's name, email and phone number. Two taps and the lead is in. That is why cost per lead is usually 30 to 60 percent lower than a landing page.

The downside is the same as the upside. Two taps is not a lot of commitment. Some of those leads will not remember filling in the form when you call.

What landing pages do well

A landing page makes the person leave the app, read about your offer, and type their details. Fewer people finish, so each lead costs more, but the ones who finish wanted to. Contact rates and booking rates are consistently higher.

A landing page also lets you show proof: photos of real jobs, reviews, pricing from, service area. That pre-qualifies people before they ever submit.

The setup I use for local businesses

  • Instant forms set to “higher intent”. This adds a review step before submission and removes the laziest 20 percent of leads.
  • Two or three qualifying questions. Timeline, budget range and location. Nothing more, or completion rates fall off a cliff.
  • Native sync into GoHighLevel. No Zapier in the middle. The lead exists in the CRM the second the form is submitted, and the speed-to-lead text goes out within 60 seconds.
  • A landing page for retargeting. People who engaged with the ad but did not submit see a second ad that sends them to the page with the full offer and a booking calendar.

How to judge which is winning

Do not compare cost per lead. Compare cost per booked appointment and cost per job won. GoHighLevel can report both because the pipeline knows which leads booked and which deals closed. In most of my accounts, instant forms win on volume and landing pages win on quality, and the right answer is running both with retargeting between them.
