Send booked appointments back to Meta: the Conversions API setup inside GoHighLevel
If Meta only knows about form fills, it finds you people who fill in forms. Teach it what a booked appointment looks like and it finds you buyers.
Meta's algorithm optimises for whatever event you tell it is valuable. Most lead campaigns only ever report the lead itself, so the algorithm hunts for people who are easy to convert into a form submission. Those are rarely the people who book and pay.
What the Conversions API does
The Conversions API (CAPI) is a server-to-server connection. Instead of relying on the browser pixel, your CRM sends events directly to Meta: lead created, appointment scheduled, deal won, along with the person's hashed email and phone so Meta can match them to the ad they clicked.
The events worth sending
- Lead when the contact is created.
- Schedule when an appointment is booked in the GoHighLevel calendar.
- Purchase (with value) when the opportunity moves to Won.
Once a campaign has enough Schedule events, switch the optimisation goal from Lead to Schedule. Cost per lead goes up. Cost per booked appointment goes down, which is the number that pays your bills.
How it is wired in GoHighLevel
- Connect the Facebook ad account under Integrations and enable the Conversions API.
- Build a workflow with the trigger “Appointment status changed to confirmed” and the action “Facebook Conversion API: Schedule”.
- Build a second workflow on “Opportunity status changed to Won” that sends Purchase with the deal value.
- Check Events Manager the next day. You should see the events arriving with a match quality of 6 or higher.
What changes after two weeks
In my accounts, lead volume typically drops by 20 to 30 percent and booked appointments rise. The ads stop reaching people who collect quotes for sport and start reaching people who show up. That trade is always worth it.
