How I structure a Meta ads campaign for local lead generation on $20 to $50 a day
You do not need twelve campaigns. You need one campaign, three ad sets and a weekly routine. This is the structure I launch for roofers, med spas, contractors and clinics.
Most small-business ad accounts fail for one of two reasons: too much structure, so nothing gets enough budget to learn, or none at all, so there is nothing to compare. The setup below sits in the middle and works on modest budgets.
One campaign, Leads objective
Pick the Leads objective, not Traffic and not Engagement. Meta then optimises for people likely to submit the form, which is the only thing you care about. Use campaign budget optimisation so the budget flows to the ad set that is working.
Three ad sets
- Cold, broad. Your service area, age 28 to 65, no interests. Meta's targeting is better than your guess, and broad audiences are cheaper.
- Cold, lookalike. A 1 percent lookalike of your past customers, uploaded from GoHighLevel. This is usually the best-quality cold audience you will ever have.
- Warm, retargeting. Website visitors from the last 30 days, Instagram and Facebook engagers, and leads in the CRM who have not booked yet. Small budget, highest conversion.
Six ads, not one
Two videos, two single images and two carousels, all with the same offer. Let them run for seven days before you judge anything. Meta needs around 50 conversions per ad set per week to learn properly, so on a small budget patience matters more than cleverness.
Creative that pre-qualifies
Say the price range, the service area and who the offer is not for, in the ad itself. You will get fewer clicks and better leads. A roofing ad that says “Repairs from $450, Tampa Bay only, we do not do gutters” loses the tyre-kickers before they cost you anything.
The weekly routine
- Pull booked appointments and closed jobs from GoHighLevel, not just leads from Ads Manager.
- Pause any ad whose cost per booked appointment is double the best one.
- Replace it with a new variation of the winner.
- Move 10 to 20 percent of budget towards the audience with the lowest cost per booking.
That is it. No daily tinkering, which only resets the learning phase and makes everything more expensive.
